I’m fascinated by the mechanisms that underlie the regulation of gene expression. When I was applying to graduate school, I was attracted to the diversity of awesome science that happens here because I wasn’t sure exactly what methods I wanted to use to answer the questions I was interested in. As a graduate student in the Vos Lab, I use a reductionist approach by creating a minimal system, controlling precisely what components to add or subtract in order to really get the nitty-gritty of how genes are regulated.
