2025 MIT Biology Catalyst Symposium

In 2022, the department launched the MIT Biology Catalyst Symposium with leadership from the Faculty DEI Committee and DEI Officer.  This symposium is part of an ongoing effort to bring outstanding postdocs from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds in science to engage with members of our community. Aimed specifically at postdocs pursuing academic careers across many areas of biology, the three-day symposium provides a venue for participants to share their research, discuss exciting new directions, make new professional connections, and get to know the department. The event also includes mentoring activities to support the speakers in pursuing independent academic positions.

The 2025 Catalyst Symposium will take place on April 30th-May 2nd, 2025. The deadline for nominations is December 13, 2024.

Please help identify stellar postdocs to speak at the third annual MIT Biology Catalyst Symposium, which will be held on campus from April 30-May 2nd, 2025.

We seek nominees with diverse backgrounds in the biological and biomedical sciences, encompassing molecular, cellular, developmental, computational (including AI/ML), and disease biology. Nominees should be current postdoctoral scholars from institutions within the United States who are not currently on the job market.  MIT postdocs or individuals working closely with MIT PIs are not eligible.

This event can only succeed with your help. Please nominate up to two speakers by completing this form by December 13, 2024, and distribute this information widely.

The selection of speakers will take place in January and speakers will be invited by February 1.

Please contact Biology DEI Officer Hallie Dowling-Francisco with any questions.
