Senior Development Officer

Daniel Griffin manages all aspects of fundraising for the Department of Biology, including strategic planning, cultivation of new donors, and stewardship of existing donors.



Daniel holds a Master of Public Administration and Master of Science in Political Science from Suffolk University. He has extensive development experience in higher education, previously serving as the Director of the Annual Fund at Tabor Academy, Development Marketing Coordinator for Harvard Business School, Special Assistant to the MIT Annual Fund, and as a Graduate Fellow at Suffolk University.

Daniel also participated in the MIT Venture Mentoring Program as the Founder & CEO of a start-up focused on enhancing the water-proofing properties and durability of materials used across a variety of industries and applications. Daniel holds a number of U.S. Patents, remains an active member of the MIT Entrepreneurial community, and serves a Mentor to young entrepreneurs through the MIT Venture Mentorship Program.

In his current role as Senior Development Officer, Daniel works closely with the Department Head on all aspects of fundraising including strategic planning, identification and cultivation of new major gift and annual donors, stewardship of existing donors, event planning, and reporting. Daniel serves as a liaison with Resource Development and other departments within MIT as well as collaborating with volunteers and members of the Biotech industry. Additionally, Daniel also works with the department’s communications team to create and promote development marketing materials.

Daniel is a Member of the Suffolk University CAS Alumni Board of Directors as well as the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
