Caitlin earned her PhD from MIT Biology, researching DNA replication initiation in the Bell lab. After graduating, she was hired as a learning technologist through the MITx Digital Learning Lab (DLL) to work for the department, and help transition from Stellar to a new learning management system called Canvas. In 2020, she was awarded an Infinite Mile Award from MIT’s Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) for this work. Now, as a member of the MITx Biology team, she creates digital learning materials for biology classes. These materials are used for both in-person and online courses. Her focus is on writing assessments and designing their associated digital images, including graphs and illustrations. She aims to design assessments based on actual scientific research, and articles with a focus on experimental design and problem solving.
